Estate Planning
We offer comprehensive estate planning services, including preparation of
trusts, wills, powers of attorney, health care directives, property agreements,
transfer documents and other documentation as required. Plans offered range
from simple, single-settlor living trusts for clients of modest means to complex
plans appropriate for large estates. Office procedures for handling these
matters are highly automated and make extensive use of model documents, forms
and checklists to insure quality documentation and timely delivery. Most of
these assignments are handled on a flat, all-inclusive fee basis.
We generally do not accept cases involving planning for Medi-Cal or other
public benefits (so-called “elder law” cases). In our experience,
such cases require close and continuous monitoring of state and local welfare
benefit policies that is better handled by offices which specialize in such
matters. Such cases may also present difficult ethical issues, particularly
where we have previously represented the proposed Medi-Cal beneficiary.
Our general approach to estate planning is to make our documentation as simple
as possible and to be certain that each client understands and is comfortable
with the design and the objectives of his or her plan.
